Trican Inhibited Methanol (IM-1)
was designed to reduce the quantity of methanol used for hydrate
inhibition and pipeline freezing; as well as to provide adequate
corrosion protection when using methanol. Typically methanol has
a tendency to rob metals of their corrosion protecting films, however,
because IM-1 contains a proprietary methanol friendly corrosion
inhibitor one need not worry about corrosion issues when treating with
methanol.
IM-1 contains Kinetic Hydrate Inhibitors which serve to prevent the
formation of hydrates in the oil and gas production process. Typically,
hydrates can form at any time during the production process, these crystals
are small but tend to agglomerate, forming blockages and as a result
pipeline plugging.
